The Waterfront last
summer

The Waterfront on July
4, 2007
Many campers have been
asking, “Where’s the beach?” as the recent
rains will cause Lake Texoma to reach
spillway elevation (640 feet) by July 5th.
In effect this increase has flooded many
of the lakeside worship sites and seating
areas through-out camp. Similarly most
camp trails and the famous suspension
bridge are underwater too.
The working theory of
Lake Texoma’s spillway being topped only
once every 100 years has been perforated
twice since its 1944 completion – once in
1957 (when All Saints was a Boy Scout
Camp) and once in 1990 (when All Saints
was known as Trinity Lutheran Camp).
According the US Army Corps of engineers
Lake Manager Ron Jordan July 5th
will mark the third inundation of the
spillway.
Although these
staggering lake levels have closed boat
ramps and campsites, All Saints Summer
Camp is still going strong with many
campers enjoying the opportunity to canoe
amongst the tree tops and gain a new
perspective of the mighty powers of Mother
Nature.
All Saints Summer Camp has
a few more weeks left, and spots are still
available call or check online for
details! For more information call Rev.
